How to integrate this into website?

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 17:01
Years ago we made the mistake of allowing payment at closing. We are trying to untangle that web (chasing 30k just in the last year ugh!) and have thought of requiring payment on the website via credit/bank card first to access the report. Basically pay, get a password after payment verified, download report. Any done this or have any suggestions? I can build simple websites, but this is way beyond me lol.

Memorial Day, All Gave Some… Some Gave All

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 10:02
ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL!
If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you love them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace the gentle heroes that you left behind.

We should remember that "Freedom Is Not Free"
Some of us paid the price, and some of us are still paying to this day.

My Daily Prayer,
God, please bless all of our American servicemen and women especially those serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and those serving in countries where people would seek to harm them.
Please grant them peace of mind, peace in their hearts, clarity of vision, clarity of mind, and quick physical reactions. Please give them good cold drinks, hot food that tastes good, and a warm and safe comfortable place to sleep.
We ask all of these blessings in the name of your son Jesus Christ amen.

Milwaukee 2260-20 TI Camera

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 09:43
Bought a new cordless tool set the other day and it had a catalog in it for additional tools that will work with the batteries. Thought I would post it here and see what you pro's think. I will not be purchasing one for a while but would like to add this to my arsenal. And by this I mean thermal Imaging. Take a look and tell me what you think. There is a video with further spec info.

Bottle feeding R-22 Refrigerant

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 08:22
With the MFG of R-22 being limited in production less each year until it is discontuined I have noticed the cost of R-22 has shot out the roof. Thus it brings out the less than honest contractors and home sellers.

I have encountered A/C units lately during my inspections that I suspected had refrigerant leaks that were never repaired and the contractor just kept adding refrigerant every year. This is very hard to determine and most of the time is speculation only as there is no real proof bottle feeding is taking place.

As the owner of bottle fed A/C units it would be a requirement to disclose this in a Real Estate contract, but it would be rare for full disclosure.

Melting Siding

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 07:17
My daughter just bought a brand new house and just closed about a month ago.
I inspected it for her and even went through a final walkthrough with the builder.
So I have walked around the outside of the home several times. Yesterday when I was there all of a sudden Boom I noticed melted siding on the northwest wall and the southwest wall at the corner of the garage. The true outside corner faces due west. I know that melted siding is a lot of time blamed on sun reflecting off windows next door, but this is a new neighborhood & there are no other homes yet within several hundred feet. Also we have been hard pressed to get any hot days here yet to speak of. Could this be such cheap siding that it can't withstand the sun??

Trying to figure out with the client what this is. I thought it was part of thermometer. Looks also to be something electrical but no wires running to or from it.

electric baseboard heater

Sat, 05/25/2013 - 09:18
I have the understanding that an electric baseboard heater should not attain a temp above about 165 degrees. Is that a code issue, a manuf. stat, a rule of thumb? I have seen it before on this board, but can't find it. I run into many that will reach a temp of 190-205. Way too hot for me. Any help?

Did you know
That the percentage of Canadian residential mortgages that were three months or more in arrears trended downward from 0.41% in 2011 to 0.36% in the first half of 2012? See the Chapter 2: Housing Financefor more information or view the full version of the2012 Canadian Housing Observer.

Customer Service

Fri, 05/24/2013 - 21:35
I am aware that a lot of inspectors have used the service of one of the local vendors on the this message board to purchase their IR/THERMAL imaging equipment, and some have had good service from them , but I recently purchased a T420 camera from a well known vendor from this board and after 5 weeks I have not been able to recieve nothing more than a reciept for funds. I have asked every one that will answer the phone when I can expect a due date for my camera. All I get is LIE after LIE. No one in this company knows or even gives a damn about the customer that they took $ 8,000. dollars from. I was told it would be shipped on this day or that day. I talked to the sales person today and was told the factory had stopped production on the T420. I asked for the free Level 1 that was included and was told I would get the info today. This was at 9:00 am Arizona time, well at 10:15 pm Eastern time I have not recieved an email yet, there I been LIED to again, this has happened 3 times before by the service rep. If you plan to buy a IR camera do not buy it from AC tool supply. All this company does is lie . By the way I ordered the camera 5 weeks ago and it took a week to even get a receipt for the purchase. If you are buying a camera BEWARE there customer service SUCKS . I will never buy from them again. If I treated my customers this way I would not have a buisness.

If you have had good service then you are fortunate.
For me there service totally SUCKS.

I don't expect favorable replies. I want you to be informed.
I even tried to speak to Jason Kaylor and his exact words were
" why did they transfer you to me"
It appears no one ,even the president does not give a damn.

cancel during an inspection?

Fri, 05/24/2013 - 21:17
Any of you ever, or would you ever, cancel/leave an inspection after you start but before you are done? When I take calls I may turn away a customer I feel will be difficult by quoting a high price putting them off. What if during the inspection you just KNOW these people are going to cause you problems down the road? Maybe even legal problems. Do you walk away?

Purchase advice: Data logging sound level meter with NIST cert.

Fri, 05/24/2013 - 19:19
Looking into buying four of these. These would be used during OSHA audits to determine if a hearing conservation program is necessary in an industrial environment. Anybody have one? Looking for some purchasing advice.

Oven heat transfer

Fri, 05/24/2013 - 18:12
I have a client who wanted to know why, when her oven was on, her countertop on both sides of oven got really hot, and the oven housing hot to the touch. Is that oven malfunction?
